Cheers to New Beginnings

I always feel like this day is very revealing - and there’s no wrong way to approach a new beginning. So here we go again: are you one to make a list of resolutions?

I used to be that person. I’m normally someone who finds lists of any kind soothing, and I’ve been known to write down tasks just to cross them off. So satisfying! With this one particular list though, I realized the thing put too much pressure on me to perform - particularly during a season when every other creature around me seemed to be slowing down, hibernating, and conserving the energy required to bloom later.

Now, I like the idea of habits. I try to weave a new habit or two into my week, and wait to see what blooms from there. That’s how I wrote a book as a busy person: layering ordinary effort upon ordinary effort and hoping for an extraordinary outcome.

So how do you approach the new year? Do you like big, bold moves or tiny, incremental changes? Maybe you even choose to swim against the current and rest. That’s some serious main character energy right there!

In any case, there’s no right way, friend. There’s only your way.

2024 carries with it all the promise of a blank page. And while empty spaces can be frightening, that’s only because we’ve yet to see how we will fill it with such incredible color. I hope that this can be a space to share our stories: yours and mine. I wish you all the best in the new year.
